Some people invest themselves in their pain and turn away from love.
The thought of love and real connection feels too risky, and so they build walls, retreating into the familiar pain and suffering rather than opening themselves to the possibility of healing.
In this mindset, they miss the chance to transform that pain. We need to remind ourselves that “love is not the absence of pain”, but the presence of vulnerability and the courage to let ourselves be seen and heard.
Those of us who are brave take the risk, and we learn that both joy and heartbreak can coexist and can be transformational.
Swallowing one’s feelings and emotions, and choosing to remain stuck in an old story just because it “feels” familiar and even “safe,” feeds and breeds inflammation on a cellular level.
