Glass Ceiling:Soul Notes – Love, Wendy

People who manipulate two sides usually view themselves as clever, in control, or essential to both parties. Being caught destroys that illusion…immediately.

They attempt to turn the tables so that they appear to be the wounded party…

The “table” is made of glass…

Their truth is so transparent…smashed.

The moment light hits it…the moment both sides talk to each other and see through the illusion…

that glass surface doesn’t just crack…

it completely shatters under the weight of the truth.

Busted…

Wendy

Faith:Soul Notes – Love, Wendy

A little faith, a little laughter, and a little peace is a Divine conspiracy.

May the right doors open, the truth come to light, and your peace be restored.

When you have done your part, leave a little room for faith to do hers.

Love is within, Love is God… in so many forms, all around you.…

Loving family and friends, collegues, acquaintences, community, nature, music, an encouraging word, a hug, a handshake, a book, a “Soul Note” that speaks to YOUR soul…

Love. God.

And perhaps, today, a little grace for yourself as well.

Love and blessings,

Wendy

On Being An Educator, Teacher and Friend:Soul Notes – Love, Wendy

It is the pure joy of my work that keeps it real.

The look of “OH! I understand now!,” the hugs from students, former students yell a warm greeting when they see me in the building, current students excitedly reading, learning, and growing with me in their knowledge and expanding their understanding beyond their immediate environment, and the sacred trust that has become our signature between student and teacher.

Nothing can destroy what we have built as it is all carried safely within our hearts.

My work is not simply teaching children to read.

As educators, we are helping students to expand their worlds, discover their capabilities, and to experience the safety of being seen and believed in one day, and one experience at a time.

What we build through genuine human connection becomes part of us. It doesn’t disappear with time or space, it becomes part of our hearts and elevates our mind…

Full circle.

Destination…Peace:Soul Notes – Love, Wendy

An intentional attempt at breaking one’s spirit through bullying and intimidation spreads through every fiber of my soul and simply reawakens me to the power of my own resilience, strength and faith.

Love is within, Love is God…in so many forms…all around me.

What others may attempt to diminish in you can become the very catalyst that reconnects you with your own strength, resilience, and faith.

Resilience doesn’t mean you continue enduring what is hurting you. Resilience is the awareness that you deserve a different life filled with love, appreciation and respect…and then you begin moving toward it…one day at a time.

Step one…”ruggedness and toughness” in my spirit and moving with Grace in a healthy and safe direction with God as my Guide…where my destination..is peace…

Wendy

RESILIENCE: SOUL NOTES – Love, Wendy

Betrayal can break your spirit, or teach you about your own resilience.

Self awareness is the conduit for resilience. At the heart of self awareness we have the ability to realize and observe our emotions, and how our stress bucket is filling up throughout the day, and then consciously employ strategies to de-escalate, destress, and bring it back down.

We empower ourselves when we go within. Our body, mind and spirit
will always offer insight as to what we need in order to move forward in
health and wellness.

Our resilience allows us to land on our feet as we
challenge ourselves, and we stretch the mind to build its strength.

I am choosing not to break. I am resilient…

Practicing resilience builds resilience.

SELF CARE:

ASK YOURSELF, “WHAT WILL BRING ME PEACE/WELLNESS RIGHT NOW? TODAY?

WHAT WILL SERVE ME BEST AT THIS MOMENT?”

HOW CAN I PRACTICE RESILIENCE TODAY?

Never let one who thinks they hold power over you HOLD that “power” over you.

Simply stand in yours…with grace.

Trust is Intentional:Soul Notes – Love, Wendy

The way others trust you with their private struggles says a lot about the energy you carry.

People can feel when someone is safe… when they won’t gossip, judge, or weaponize vulnerability. ..

When the energy is not “performative.”

Trust like that is not accidental…it is intentional.

it grows slowly through consistency and integrity.

It isn’t built by trying to be liked.

It isn’t built by positioning or influence.

It is built quietly…over time…by showing up as the same ethical and trustworthy person, day after day.

When someone entrusts you with their story, it is a privilege.

It is an honor.

“Trust is earned in drops, and lost in buckets.”

They picked on the “wrong girl…” – Love, Wendy

It’s so hard to find a ride or die nowadays… but I am blessed to have a few.

People have become so afraid to stand up for themselves or for others who are being blatantly wronged that they hide behind, “I’m sorry” and turn away, or simply cower in the face of harassment and verbal abuse, protecting their own comfort while someone being bullied and harassed is left to stand alone…

They picked on the “wrong girl…”

A strong woman doesn’t need a crowd to stand with her to know she’s standing for what is right…

It is simply second nature.

She doesn’t cower in the face of intimidation, and she doesn’t surrender her voice because someone else believes they hold the power. She stands her ground and finally goes nose to nose with the abuser…

It may take a minute for her to re-balance and steady herself…but a strong woman always finds her footing and her constructive solution.

Courage means standing up for what’s right, whether you are the one being wronged, or the person witnessing someone else being wronged…

They picked on the “wrong girl…”

I may go down…but I never stay down.

Checkmate.

Sink or Swim:Soul Notes – Love, Wendy

If a “friend “ jumps ship to save themselves and leaves you in the water without a life jacket… they were never a “friend.” A friend pulls you alongside during the storm.

Swim to shore with strength and confidence.

Own your power…

SWIM in your strength, trust your stroke, and determine your own direction to shore…

Sink the relationship.

Love and blessings,

From my book, Write Pray Recover:A Journey To Wellness Through Spiritual Solutions and Self Care:

“I am a survivor. I am not my past defined by a disease that

temporarily altered my being. I am a warrior who now holds

the space for others to experience their authentic selves in the

present moment. This is a blessing and a gift. I am here as a vessel

to usher the boat away from the shore. The waves do not hold

me back as I have learned to navigate, and swim right into the

waves. I’ve learned to go with the flow, and to feel the sun lighting

my way on my journey. I live with great pride, and in peace, as

I continue to experience the ripples and waves in un-chartered

territory. I continue to evolve, poised for the next rush of waves,

with certainty of my strength, always grateful for new opportunities

to grow. I am a survivor.”

Expiration:Soul Notes – Love, Wendy

We speak about valuing an aging population and supporting those of us living with disabilities.

Yet what happens to the woman who is still dedicated, hardworking, contributing, serving her community, and giving her invaluable energy, knowledge and experience to the people she is entrusted to serve?

What happens when all of that is still not enough?

When experience becomes invisible.
When dedication becomes expendable.
When disability becomes a reason to diminish and define rather than recognize resilience.
When age is quietly translated into irrelevance…

Rhetorical.

Love and blessings,

Wendy
